The HotPrintz Bay of Islands Run/Walk Festival (previously known as the Jennian Homes Mother's Day Paihia Run/Walk) is the third event in the Sport Northland Run/Walk Series that is hosted by Sport Northland Events and is situated in the picturesque Bay of Islands.
About
What is the Bay of Island known for?
The Bay of Islands is an area on the east coast of the Far North District of the North Island of New Zealand. It is one of the most popular fishing, sailing and tourist destinations in the country, and has been renowned internationally for its big-game fishing since American author Zane Grey publicised it in the 1930s.
This iconic event offers a choice of three distances - 6km & 8.7km and 21.1km which start and finish in the heart of the coastal town of Paihia.
The scenic course encompasses some stunning views across the Bay as you navigate your way along Paihia's waterfront, including access to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds and the WAITANGI MOUNTAIN BIKE PARK.
The event attracts a diverse range of participants from all walks of life, cultures and ages attracting around 1000 participants annually.

What is the Sport Northland Run/Walk Series?
The Sport Northland Run/Walk Series of seven events attracts 8000 people annually, with the Northland Waste Kerikeri Half Marathon the flagship event of the series. The series attracts people of all ages, from all walks of life, all over the country and afar. Whether you're a complete newbie wanting to get out for a casual run/walk or you may want to set some goals, whatever the reason is to get active, the Sport Northland Run/Walk Series can help you get to the finish line.

While the Sport Northland Run/Walk Series is to cater for everyone of all fitness levels, the Conbrio Northland Half Marathon Series is for those who are ready to up the intensity and training throughout the year. Set a goal to run or walk Northlands popular half marathons as we showcase some stunning locations and provide you with a mixture of trail running and road running events.

Kauri Die Back
Arrive clean and leave clean in and out of the forest and around Kauri, follow the simple instructions at hygiene stations, keep to the track, always consider kauri in all off-track activities and work or operations involving vehicles and machinery.

Start/Finish
All distances start and finish on Marsden Road (adjacent to the Paihia Village Green).
Parking
You are welcome to park in one of many surrounding streets around Paihia, there is plenty of parking, but obviously the earlier you arrive, the closer you are to the Start/Finish.
Timing and Results

The event will use a timing system.
-
All participants will need to have their bib visible showing on the front of their torso.
-
It is your responsibility to ensure that you are wearing the event number that has been registered to you.
-
Please do not mix these up with other participants.
-
Gun time will be used for official results.
Prizegiving/Awards
-
We will have a live band A2stix to keep you entertained while you relax after your race.
-
The Paihia Fire brigade will also be on-site cooking up the goods to keep your puku full with tasty chicken and salad-filled pita pockets and the good old classic NZ Saussie sizzle.

Prize giving will be held on the Paihia Village Green at approximately 11.00 am
-
Prizes will be awarded to the following categories, Top 3 Male and Female Finishers from the Half Marathon and the 8.7km.

There will be plenty of awesome spot prizes to be won from our amazing sponsors and local businesses.

Participants must be present at the prizegiving and show their event number to claim their spot prize.

The spot prize draw: There will a be rip-off tag at the bottom of your race number. If you are going to stay around for the prize-giving at 11 am please rip off the tag and place it in the Spot Prize Container after you cross the finish line.

In the case of bad weather leading to the cancellation of prize-giving, all prize winners will be notified the week following the event and listed on the event website and Facebook.

The Suzuki Swift from Pacific Motor Group will be won by a Northland adult entrant from the seven-event series who has opted into the Pacific Motor Group Promotion at entry.

Cups are available at the 6km and 8.7km Aid Stations. Half Marathoners will need to bring a vessel to hold and refill liquid.

Northland Half Marathon Leader Board
Points will be awarded based on where you finished relative to the winner in your gender for those registered in the half marathon. The first-placed male and female athletes in each category receive 100 points, and then subsequent finishers are awarded points as a percentage of the winner’s time. That means that no matter how long you take to finish, you will always earn some points.

The first five men and women over the finish line (from the run section of the specified distance) will be awarded points based on their finishing place as follows:

Event Safety Information

Prams are allowed on the 6km & 8.7km.

No DOGS
-
No SKATEBOARDS OR SCOOTERS OR BIKES
-
The event is held on public roads. Always treat all roads as open and expect oncoming and overtaking traffic.
-
Please obey all traffic laws and regulations.
-
Take extreme care when approaching driveways and side roads – expect vehicles.
-
Where there is a lane coned for participants, you are always required to remain within the cones.
-
Marshals will be wearing high-visibility vests and are there for your safety. Always follow their instructions and those of the event organisers.
-
There will be a lead bike preceding the first participant (for the on-road section of the course) and a tail marshal following the last participant. If assistance is required, please stop and wait for the tail marshal or notify the nearest marshal.
-
No animals (except guide dogs) are permitted to accompany participants during the event.
-
Footpaths and footbridges are to be used where available.
-
Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
Cancellation
In the unlikely event of cancellation notice will be given on Northland’s More FM 91.6 and on our Facebook Page. Where possible attempts will be made to email participants, who have supplied an email address with their entry. While we will endeavour to make a decision to cancel an event as early as possible due to the nature of such events situations can occur
