Background on the koru design used - Mangopare/Hammerhead shark which typically symbolises strength but not so much brute strength more in a sense of stubbornness and ongoing persistence, this can be summed up by the whakatauki "Kaua e mate te Tarakihi, mate Uruoa" which means "Don't die like the Tarakihi, Die fighting like a Hammerhead"
